Sisters in Crime-Iowa is a chapter of Sisters in Crime. Sisters in Crime is an international organization of readers and writers whose mission is to promote the professional development and advancement of women crime writers.


The organization was founded in 1986 by Sara Paretsky and other women mystery writers and enthusiasts and has now grown to over 50 chapters around the world.

What do we do?

Membership


Membership is available to all sisters and misters who have an interest in crime, mystery and suspense works.  We welcome writers, readers, fans, librarians, booksellers, publishing professionals, reviewers, and all others who love the genre.

Membership Dues


Dues are $20 a calendar year and membership runs January to December.

We meet monthly and have a general business meeting and then a program on a specific topic related to crime, crime fiction, mystery/suspense writing or on writing in general. Some months we have guest speakers but we also utilize the expertise of our members.

Sisters in Crime was founded on the core values of advocacy, equity, inclusion, and community.


All meetings and events are conducted with those values in mind and are governed by the Sisters in Crime Code of Conduct.
